I recently stumbled upon the most beautiful customized blog about real luxury glamping in an Airstream. Wow is all I can say. It even made my home look way less lux! I drooled over the personalization of the coach. Colorful rugs, custom-made trays, wall mounted cooking utensils and storage containers to “die for”. I felt so lacking in creativity as my lovely, humble, silver baby sits with minimal visible goodies and hidden simplistic treasures.
I often think, we strive for beauty, inspiration and uniqueness in the sea of mediocrity wishing for that magic wand to hit us on the head. While we waste our “now” time we miss the beauty we have. Ok, yep I keep thinking of ways to make now better but I do need to remember how good it is already. That challenge is what makes the journey in our silver coach an adventure. With a wish list in the back of my mind, created by reading Sunset Magazine, other blogs and discussing traveling in a trailer, discoveries pop up.
I often forget it is the journey not the destination that really makes our glamping that much better. The joy of reading new recipes we can make at our campsite turns our coach into a weather cover and keeper of the ingredients. It also teaches how “outdoor” entertaining is much more fun and interactive.
Through watching my grandchildren and grandnephews marvel at our coach and see the smiles, I love it more. With that said, it also means I had better learn how to be an earthwise, caretaker of our family smile maker! So I look for reusable, multi-tasking supplies, comforting luxuries and cleaning supplies. I researched all the cooking recommendations from the makers of our stove and refrigerator. There really is no set list of cleaning stuffs except to say what not to use. I love H2O Home products to keep our baby shine and smell great too!
We just had a long overdue maintenance on our 2009 FB Flying Cloud! We culled stuff out and really shinned her up. We just grow in awe of the thought, design and care that went into our little luxury! Bay Area Airstream Service Department and Chris the manager is a great resource and really cares about his Airstreamers.
Now that we have found a soft spot to land (Hi Country RV) and watch a grandchild graduate from high school, we are on our way to Yellowstone! The prep of our silver coach has proved to be a comfort for our journey. We are taking our time to get to the gates of Yellowstone. Two nights in Utah and one overnight between Eagle and Yellowstone!
We stay overnight by the Snake River in Pocatello, Idaho. It is a small clean and busy campground. It looks like a former KOA as it has cabins, tent spaces and of course full hookups! The road here was a trial of fighting strong winds hitting us from all sides. The little truck that can is doing her job in spades!
As is true of the Airstream effect, we had two fellow travelers knock on the door to see our wonderous Airstream. They were from Holland and France and had heard about our silver coaches even there. They really marvelled at the well thought out storage. They were travelling in a rental RoadTrak! They did want to know if they still made them. We felt so proud and shared a glass of California wine with them! This is truly what living the Airstream adventure is all about! Finding new friends.
Tomorrow we say hello to Yellowstone!
